A memorable stay at Sly.Berlin

Have you been to Berlin, Germany yet? Well, neither ways a stay at Sly.Berlin is a must-do. Last week, I stayed at this magical, cool hotel for 3 nights with nearly 5 full days (as I had an early flight and late flight back) which was a truly memorable experience.

The location of the Sly.Berlin was perfect for us, as we needed to be relatively close to Alexanderplatz. The tram is only a side-street away from the hotel, bringing us directly to Alexanderplatz in around 5 stops. Perfect. However, although the hotel has a very central location, it still felt very calming and chilled. With no busy roads around the room with a small balcony, overlooking the hotel area, was super quiet and relaxing. A huge benefit if you’ve been around a busy street all day!

Once entering the hotel, I definitely had a wide smile on my face. The interior of this exquisite hotel is simply breathtaking and soooo refreshing to see some bold and brave colors, tiles, and decor elements put together. I absolutely loved it. The entrance and reception is designed in super dark colors, with dark, lacquered, zellige tiles to add a touch of excitement to the walls. Yellow and orange stained glass doors and windows makes it feel like you have entered a new world. However, if these dark colors are not your thing, don’t worry. The “lobby” is located in a somewhat glasshouse, where you’ll also find the bar and restaurant (where breakfast and dinner is served). The space is super bright and welcoming, even though the colors and furniture are kept in the same cool vibe as the entrance.

But now to the rooms … we were able to have an early check-in, which was super convenient for us. The hotel is split up into different “houses”, as it is surprisingly big! The elevator brought us up to our room on the fifth floor, with a stunning arched window, a small balcony and a beautiful view overlooking the hotel area (and the glasshouse!). Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, TV, table, and an amazing bathroom.

I have to admit I am usually quite picky with the bed, bedding, and bathroom. However, after coming out of the shower on our first night, I said “I think this shower would be a 10/10 for me”. It’s super spacious and the green zellige tiles add a super interesting twist to the room. While we visited Berlin in summer (and heat!), you have the option to turn on floor heating in the bathroom if needed (in case you’re visiting in winter), as well as you have air condition to make you feel comfortable during the summer heat.

Due to our very tight time schedule, we were unable to visit the spa and fitness area, however, the view from our room was right onto that as well and it looked absolutely incredible! So if you’re visiting Berlin on a colder day and fancy a sauna session, the rooftop sauna at Sly.Berlin will definitely be your place to be.

One thing I was looking very much forward to every single morning was the breakfast, which I found very tasty. Probably, the combination of the “glasshouse”, a stunning interior with lots of plants and interesting fabrics/materials, as well as the fresh food coming from the open kitchen was what stole my heart. Fruit, bred, freshly made things from the kitchen, warm food, cold food, bowls, etc. – anything you could wish for was available at the rich breakfast buffet. Although I am a coeliac (cannot eat gluten and have to be very careful with cross-contamination), I was able to get warm bred every morning. A true blessing. And while we’re talking about food already … another fun thing I have never seen before was the “Späti” bar next to the reception. Instead of minibars, Sly.Berlin had something even better set-up for you to access 24/7. The “Späti” was a mix between a candy bar (which brought me right back into my childhood with sweets, lollipops, and gummibears), and a shop offering cold drinks and hygienic articles such as tampons, etc. I really loved this setting!

Oh, and I totally forgot to mention the kindness of the staff. No matter where in the hotel – cleaning staff, reception, breakfast, bar – every member of staff I met was extremely friendly and truly made this stay special.

Although my stay was a PR invite by Sly.Berlin, I have to say I truly loved it and will definitely come back. A memorable experience!! Thanks so much for having us @ Sly.Berlin.
