Different styles, different sizes – but all simply stunning

Laundry rooms are one of those luxuries that I always recommend to get, if you have the opportunity. Instead of having your laundry lay around in the house, annoying you and being inconvenient, a proper laundry room dedicated to just that will make your life so much easier and better.

However, many times it seems difficult to actually design a nice looking laundry room, as the focus of that is usually function. But as always, why not combine functionality with design? Especially when there are such great options to include in your own home out there?

What is a laundry room?

A laundry room is a dedicated space where you make your laundry. This can be a place where you wash your clothes/textiles, but also a place where you hang up the clothes to dry, tumble dry them, and keep dirty clothes. That way, the dirty laundry is stored in a dedicated place for it, not lying around, and being in the perfect place to wash it right afterwards. However, very often the laundry room is also a place where cleaning materials are kept, such as the vacuum cleaner, ironing material, and others. If you have enough space, your laundry room can also be a mix of laundry, cleaning, and food storage!

But let’s focus on laundry rooms alone, with the typical setup of including a washing machine, tumble dryer, and options to hang up the clothes to dry.

Different designs in laundry rooms

As always, there are different design styles for everything, including laundry rooms. Depending on your overall interior design style and taste, you can completely design your laundry room individually. In general, I highly recommend working with an interior design style that also fits to your room specifications and the overall house/apartment you are living in. If you respect these, you’ll surely achieve better results with less money and an overall nicer look!

While there are many modern options when it comes to laundry rooms, I personally adore the ones with character. That way, the rooms do not have to be big in order to leave an impression. If you pay close attention to details and include colors, wall decor, and other cute elements, a room can completely be transformed, personally curated, and stand out. So if you have the chance to dedicate a whole space as a laundry room, I highly recommend you also design it properly.

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to laundry rooms is that it’s not a place you typically spend loads of time in. The room holds a function and is usually not a place where guests or other home members sit in to relax, chill, or “work”. Therefore, I think the laundry room is the perfect place to be brave when it comes to interior design! A room you don’t always spend time in is always great to try out a new style, and to go bold on design choices. Particularly, if you’ve always dreamed of having something unique and special but were always too afraid to do it, the laundry room is THE perfect place to finally tackle that!!

Another stylish way to bring your laundry room to life is by working with the Japandi style. Japandi defines itself through natural, sleek elements with soft wood and textured materials, achieving a minimal but warm look. This laundry room, combined with a large space, nice lighting, and a combination of open and closed storage is a perfect way to make the laundry room a comfortable space.

6. Making the most of vaulted ceilings

Another great way of including a laundry room is once again with vaulted ceilings. Working with custom made wardrobes where the washing machine and tumble drier are included in make it extremely space sufficient and clean. Another great part of this design is the included clothing rack to hang clothes to dry, which can be stored away when not in use.

7. Neutrals and lots of light

A large laundry room with lots of storage and a lovely window/door to bring in light. Slim rooms can often be used perfectly as laundry rooms, as you are not spending a substantial amount of time in it. When organized directly, it can be the perfect place, such as in this example. I particularly love the neutral colors complementing the bright light, making the space very happy and bright.

8. Tiny room with no window? No problem, roof windows are the solution!

This laundry room is a perfect example of how a tiny, dark room can be transformed into something special. Due to the roof window, the room receives lots of natural light all while still being small and packed, but nicely organized. No better place to store away your laundry!

9. No space for a separate laundry room? Office turned laundry room – to perfection

I get it. Having a separate laundry room is definitely a luxury! However, if you put in a bit of work and thought, you can even combine rooms, without having to compromise on design. This example is proof for that! The washing machine and tumbe dryer are nicely stored away behind closed doors, however, still giving them enough air to “breathe” when operating, as well as lots of storage. However, there is also a home office desk included in the room – what a perfect use of a room!!

13. Sophisticated design combined with personal elements

This laundry room has so many gorgeous elements included, combining different styles. While it has traditional elements such as the wardrobes and wooden ceiling, it also features antique elements such as the lamps, country-side designs such as the open sink, or contemporary styles such as the zellige tiles, typically from countries such as Morocco. All these different styles really tie the space together and add a lot of warmth.

14. Tiny space making use of the high ceilings

I love this space, as it really makes use of all of it! A very slim and narrow space with quite a high ceiling was used to perfection, with a foldable clothing rack and laundry baskets, while the washing machine and tumble dryer are stacked on top of each other. This is a great design if you have an apartment and don’t know where to store your laundry.

15. Curtains to hide the appliances

What a fantastic option if you want a cute look of your laundry room but cover the ugly appliances such as the washing machine and tumble dryer.

16. Boring room turned fancy through details

How could I not share this stunning design as inspo? I absolutely love what this room was turned into. It doesn’t have what you would call the perfect specifications, as it has low ceilings, a quite boring window, etc., but it was turned into a special space by paying attention to details. In this case, the cupboards were painted in a happy yellow, as well as there was a nice trim added at the bottom, bringing in something fun and a unique shape. Furthermore, the appliances and faucet of the sink is gorgeous with the visible pipes!

Overall, I think it’s clear to say that even a laundry room can be transformed into a stunning and breathtaking space! Don’t miss out on that chance of having a beautiful room there too, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. Looking for more inspo?
