Different styles, different functionalities – a perfect sofa can be hard to find, let’s help you with this!

This blogpost will help you find your perfect sofa – based on your needs, wishes, design and style preferences and preferred usage. Because: a sofa can be many things, depending on what you’re looking for! The following 5 styles will divide the world of sofas into 5 slices of cake and make your decision (and life) easier.

  1. The “Display” Couch – Please Touch With Your Eyes Only

The heading obviously is a joke. However, I like to call this sofa style “for display only” as these sofas can make the appearance as if they really are only for display. They are typically a little more compact and tighter, very stylish, sometimes available in sculpturic looks and different fabrics/colours. The amazing thing about these types of sofas is, that they barely wrinkle and always look super clean! No need to freshen up the pillows once you sat on it. This type of sofa is perfect if you prefer a rather neat and more formal look, which is easy to keep tidy.

2. The Slouchy Sofa

In contrast to the “for display only” sofa, the slouchy sofa is for everyone who is looking for a sofa to chill and relax on completely. The sofa should be as soft and comfy as possible and it doesn’t matter if the fabric wrinkles or the pillow cases look “sat down” – a slouchy sofa is perfect to spend your weekends on and have naps, too. These type of sofas also often have a down and feather filling which makes them literally feel like a bed.

3. Scandinavian Sofas

Scandinavian sofas are usually very reduced in their design and generally minimalistic. Another feature that is very common in Scandinavian sofas are that they have visible legs, which makes the design even sleeker and more minimalistic. These type of sofas definitely have benefits, such as easier cleaning underneath the sofa and a very decluttered look which makes them perfect for smaller spaces.

4. Traditional sofas

Traditional sofas usually have a unique yet well-known and popular shape. They often have armrests that look like they’re curled up a bit. Often, legs that have historic shapes are also common in this type of sofa, as well as leather (sometimes even vintage on purpose) is popular too.

5. Huge, representative sofas

These type of sofas are typically found in larger furniture shops and often don’t need to be wildly expensive. Sometimes, these types of sofas also include a sleeping function and storage. While some of these styles are considered outdated and not very elegant, brands such as Minotti are the perfect example that large sofa areas can look incredibly good and interesting, with table elements break up the otherwise gigantic appearance.

I can only imagine my life there, sitting on the terrace, overlooking the lake, eating Italian food, and enjoying life. There's still a long journey and even more work ahead, but hey, this tableware lifts my mood so much, AND makes sure to keep me motivated.

I Bought The Most Beautiful House In Italy!

In August 2024, I finally decided it's time for change. Time for a new beginning, time for a new project, and time for a new challenge. While I wouldn't say it was a rushed decision, we did decide quickly which direction we'd wanted to head towards, which was a house to renovate, surrounded by nature, in Northern Italy. I wanted to be close to water, he wanted to be close to the mountains, and anyone who's been to Lake Como knows it combines both. The perfect place to be.
