A selection of some incredibly talented artists across the globe
When it comes to interior designer, art plays a huge role when decorating spaces. Art can completely transform and change the look and feel of a space, and is therefore a wonderful tool to use in design.
Over the last couple of years, I dove deep into the world of art in interior design. Spoke with lots of artists, sourced some very unique pieces for my clients and myself, as well as I gave some pieces into commission, for a custom size and look.
To be honest, I think art can be a challenge. Depending on the rest of the interior design (the furniture, the colors, the materials, and the general style – modern, rustic, etc.), art is extremely important but also very tricky to choose. Why? Well, art can either make a space look expensive or … you might have guessed it … cheap. Tiny aspects of an art piece can already have a huge impact on that.
And lastly, the quality of an art piece is another important aspect. You want colors that have a great saturation, and a strong expression. Furthermore, the canvas/frame the artwork is made on, should also be of a high quality in order for the art to hang well on the wall. (You don’t want the art piece to be crooked or saggy).
So… here is my top selection of some artists I discovered over the last couple of years and absolutely love. Let’s look at a few of their unique creations …
- Kader Boly
Kader Boly has inspired me for many years now, with his unique creations such as his “Migration” works. His artworks are one of a kind- inspired by his heritage of Burkina Faso, where he grew up as part of the nomadic herders Fulani tribe. In multiple interviews, he has also expressed the importance and immense connection he feels with animals, which is another aspect I love about his art, where you’ll find a lot of animals.
2. Jacob Lund Art
Jacob Lund is a very talented self-taught artist from Denmark, who creates unique and colorful paintings. From faces to abstract motives, you can find anything at Jacob Lund. One huge plus point is that he offers a lot of his original paintings as prints, which is much more affordable.
3. SISU ART.
Based in Germany, SISU ART. creates modern organic art pieces that incorporate materials and textures from nature, with soothing, natural colors. Interesting shapes and interpretations dominate the her art and create statement pieces throughout the interior. Love it!
4. Ash Holmes Art
Ashleigh Holmes is the force behind “Ash Holmes Art” and creates stunning art pieces that have very special characteristics. I love the color combinations, soft yet colorful and interesting. Hoping to own one of these pieces in my home one day!
